Guidelines for budget proposal

Please refer to the following guidelines when submitting a detailed budget for the project. The budget proposal should not exceed one page in length. Requested items should be required for the proposed research. In addition to itemized costs, the budget description should include the following information:

Provide a total budget amount for the project. Include the amount requested from the Evolving Earth Foundation and details of additional funding if the total budget amount exceeds funding to be provided by the Evolving Earth Foundation. Any additional funding that you have received from internal or external sources will add credibility to your application.
Equipment and supplies - provide an itemized list of required supplies and any needed equipment. Non-consumable equipment purchases (such as digital cameras, computers and software, microscope accessories, analytical equipment, etc.) in the budget request should be kept to an absolute minimum and must be clearly justified.
Travel - provide expected costs for travel directly needed to conduct the research or to present research results at a scientific conference.
Publishing costs - estimated page costs for publication of research results.

Applicants should note that the following items are not funded by Evolving Earth Foundation grants: institutional overhead and indirect costs, salaries or fringe benefits, travel to scientific meetings (except as required for presentation of project research results), and routine operating costs such as copying services, secretarial services and general office supplies.
